I tried to write smut but got an awkward conversation instead. Help me

The apartment was mostly quiet. A dull hum emanated from beyond the bedroom, the air conditioner. The windows were open, the sound of birds floating through on the air.

Shouta focused on the birds instead of the man before him. His fingers ran over the bedspread, traced the stitching.

"Are you sure," Izuku asked him again.

This was the third time.

Warmth still bloomed at the words, at the question.

"I'm sure," he said again. Then, he shifted to lie back on the bed.

Izuku made a noise. Moved to sit beside him. Shouta turned his head, pressed his forehead into the hand. Izuku's fingers ran through his hair, gently combing out the tangles.

"You don't have to," Shouta said. "Only if you're comfortable."

Heat moved through him. He felt his face flush and buried it in the side of Izuku's thigh as he spoke again.

"I trust you."

Izuku squeaked in a way that meant he was blushing.

"I trust you too," he mumbled. "Um..."

Shouta turned his head, sat up again and looked at him. Izuku looked at the bed. His face was red.

Outside, a car passed by, the leaves rustled. For a brief moment, something lurked in the shadows. Shouta let the sunlight chase it away.

"Will you tell me what to do?"

Shouta should have expected this. He wasn't sure why he didn't. Did he even remember what to do?

Both of them sat there, the comfortable silence turning slightly awkward.

Shouta felt his cheeks burn. He was sure he and Izuku matched.

"It's been a long time," he said, the words coming slowly. "But, if it makes you more comfortable, then yes."

He closed his eyes, shook his head until his hair was covering most of his face. Izuku squeaked again, leaning into his side.

"That's good. Thanks"
